Note from student parent: After hours of reading English/Writing tutor bios on Wyzant, I found Jesse S for our high school junior. After one meeting our daughter immediately knew she liked working with him. After only a few sessions w/Jesse, her English and Reading ACT scores improved by 6 points each! When it came time to prepare for college essays, Jesse was there to help guide her through what can be a stressful experience. A couple of months later, she received her early acceptance letter to UGA! We are truly over the moon for her! We honestly do not think it would have happened if she did not have Jesse to assist her along her college prep journey. Here is what our daughter has to say about her experience of working w/Jesse: I began working with Jesse in February of my junior year in high school. I was hoping to find some assistance in the English and reading section of the ACT. At the beginning, I was terrified of and overwhelmed by anything ACT-related. During my first lesson with Jesse, I was immediately pleased by his organization and professionalism. He created a very welcoming environment and helped calm a lot of my anxiety. Upon getting to know me better, he helped craft a plan to help me improve my score(s). Through many lessons and practice, I really began to understand and excel in both areas. I found great success in my preparation time with Jesse for the ACT. I ended up extremely happy with my final scores. At the end of my junior year Jesse began to help me look towards the college application process. Again, we carefully crafted a plan of how I was going to go about the college application process. During the summer before my senior year, Jesse encouraged me to decide on the schools that I wanted to apply to and helped me plan, draft, edit, and revise my Common Application essay. Rolling into the start of my senior year, he helped me navigate Common Application and aided me in writing many supplement essays for various colleges. Jesse greatly improved my skills as a writer while assisting with the essays. I am so grateful for his help and don’t know where I’d be without having met someone who cared so deeply and was always willing to go the extra mile. He has forever positively impacted my life and I am so thankful for all he has taught me. I am so beyond excited to say that with Jesse’s help I was accepted early into the University of Georgia for fall 2024 (my dream school!!) Go Dawgs!!

Excellent Tutor and College Application Essay Guide!

Jesse is an excellent tutor! He is extremely knowledgeable, organized, and amiable. He tutored my daughter for the SAT reading and AP Lang exams and the results were exceptional. Her SAT reading score increased by 110 points, and she scored a 5 on her AP Lang exam. Jesse was a great tutor- it's clear that he knows the ACT very well. He was able to help me score a 36 on English and a 35 on Reading. Jesse taught me about the questions that are very common on the ACT, and strategies in order to manage my time and to understand what the test was asking me. My daughter worked with Jesse for SAT Reading. Jesse prepared a customized prep plan based on her strengths and weaknesses. We were so thrilled when she received a 780 on her SAT reading (1570 overall score). Jesse is not effective but also leads with empathy and works to build confidence in the student which is very important when it comes to standardized testing. My daughter is continuing to work with Jesse for AP English Lang as well. And we know our son who is currently in middle school will be working with Jesse for his SAT reading when the time comes :)

Excellent tutor college applications and essays!

I reached out to Jesse to help me with my son’s college application process. He already had a great GPA, SAT score, etc.. but really needed help presenting himself in the college application as well as needing A LOT of help with his college essays. My son kept saying he had nothing significant to write about and we were at a stand-still for a few months. After his first meeting with Jesse, my son’s confidence was boosted, and he was motivated to get to work! Jesse went out of his way to accommodate for my son, although he already had a very busy schedule.
